Back on the Water but Hydroplanes are a Bust in Gananoque

The Nickel Cup Hydroplane races returned to Gananoque after many years absence. Unable to make the opening day of the races I wanted to head down for the Sunday afternoon races and finals. I checked the website and all seemed to be in order with races scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. I wanted to shoot from the shore and not from the water so I checked their parking information. I should have realized organization was lacking when the page advised, 'Parking information to follow.' Am I missing something or would the information not be more useful prior to the event rather than after the fact?

Not to be discouraged, I headed down to the waterfront for 1:00 p.m. Although not the nicest of days, the rain had passed. When I arrived at the waterfront there was no evidence of any great race weekend. No boats and no action. Not a single sign to indicate what was happening. Digging around on the web I finally found the races had been cancelled due to the weather. Everyone had packed up and left without even leaving a sign for arriving spectators to be notified of the cancellation. The parking info should have been a clue. Anyway, I found one boat in a parking lot and grabbed this shot so I could pretend it was in the water.

Better luck at the Alexandria Bay Poker Run I hope.
